Carol Zuckman is an experienced
calligrapher and Judaica Artist with degrees in both Jewish Studies
and Therapeutic Recreation. As a calligrapher, Carol emphasizes
the letters themselves as the focus of her art. She sees added meaning
to the commandment of "Hiddur Mitzvah" celebrating the
mitzvah, as her art testifies. Carol creates art with a Jewish soul.
Carol's art incorporates a wide range of
designs and techniques from medieval illumination to bold modern
graphics. Combining timeless sayings from Biblical or Talmudic
sources, and organic materials, a unique, vibrant work of art
is created. In her original art and ketubot, Carol uses
the traditional materials of scribes--quills, hand ground ink
and 23K gold leaf on various surfaces such as calfskin vellum,
parchment, papyrus, and hand crafted papers. She experiments with
collage, paper cutting, and embossing in her art, adding interesting
dimensions to her work. In order tomake her artmore accessible,
Carol hand prints many of her designs on hand crafted paper. Each
print shown on this page is signed and numbered by the artist.
